Mithali Raj, a former captain of India, gave her opinion on the likelihood that her country would win the World Cup.
India, under the direction of Harmanpreet Kaur, is getting ready for the Women’s T20 World Cup, which begins on February 10 in South Africa. One of the favourites to take home the prized crown is India. There is a balance of youth and experience in their lineup. They have explosive Shafali Verma, the captain of their U-19 World Cup-winning team.
Mithali Raj, a former captain of India, gave her opinion on the likelihood that her country would win the World Cup.
According to her, a lot would rely on how well India’s top order plays during the competition.
“The top order will have a significant impact on India’s chances. Smriti Mandhana is winning matches and playing well “as stated by the ICC, claimed the former captain of India.
She also discussed the team’s core members and how crucial it is that they are present. She continued, “Although Harmanpreet Kaur has appeared to be in fantastic form, we still need to defeat Australia and England. You need more batters to attend the gathering.”
Additionally, Mithali Raj discussed the young talent that was on display during the multi-nation competition and the talent that was on display for all to see during the first U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, which was contested in January.
“I am enthusiastic about some of the young players breaking through, and I can see that the Under-19s team, which I got to watch compete at the first ICC Under-19s Women’s T20 World Cup, has some ability.”
The Australian team, which has previously won the coveted title, appears to be the early favourite to win the event this time around, and Raj shares this opinion.
She stated: “Everyone would probably agree that Australia is the favourite, and rightfully so. I anticipate intense, competitive matches. They have an excellent batting lineup and bat deep, which is why they are so difficult to beat.”
