Australia’s men’s domestic player of the year is Cameron Bancroft. The Australian domestic player of the 2022–2023 season is none other than Cameron Bancroft, a prolific hitter from Western Australia. The 31-year-old, who has excelled for Western Australia, was considered a strong candidate to succeed David Warner when the latter announced his retirement from Test cricket.
However, it’s worth noting that Steven Smith was given the opening slot for the national team, with Bancroft still on the waiting list.
Bancroft scored 945 runs at an average of 59.06 in 11 Shield games. In the 2022–2023 season, he was a member of the squad that took home the Sheffield Shield and Marsh Cup. Even with all of his achievements, he still trails Matthew Renshaw in the national team hierarchy.
The cricket player also won the Big Bash League with the Perth Scorchers in the previous season, amassing 357 runs at a strike rate of 140 in 11 games.
“I’m incredibly honored to have been given this important honor. To receive recognition from other players across the country makes me feel incredibly special and honored. In the past, Bancroft was cited by Western Australia as stating, “There have been a lot of great players who have won this award and they were the players I’ve looked up to and aspired to.”
