Mickey Arthur was named director of Pakistan’s men’s cricket team in April 2023, and Bradburn was named head coach of the ‘Men in Green’ the previous year. Pakistan’s support staff saw multiple changes as a result of their inability to advance to the ODI World Cup 2023 semifinals. Babar Azam also resigned from his position as the side’s captain.
After serving as coaches for Pakistan at the major tournament, Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick were appointed to positions at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. But on Thursday, January 18, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that all three had resigned from their respective roles. Puttick, a former cricket player for South Africa, was hired in April 2023 to serve as Pakistan’s batting coach.

The 55-year-old has been the head coach from 2016 to 2019 during his first tenure. The Asian powerhouse won the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy and held the top spot in the ICC Test team rankings during his time as head coach. As a head coach, Mickey Arthur has a strong background having coached teams like Sri Lanka, Australia, and South Africa.
Conversely, Bradburn, who represented New Zealand in 18 international matches from 1990 to 2001, was the men’s team fielding coach for Pakistan from 2018 to 2020 before joining NCA in October 2021 as Head of High-Performance Coaching. In May 2023, Pakistan achieved its first-ever summit finish in the ICC ODI team rankings under his guidance.
“By the end of January 2024, all three of them notified the Pakistan Cricket Board of their intention to resign from their positions. All parties involved reached an amicable agreement together. The PCB expressed gratitude for their services and wished them well in their future endeavors in a statement.
Mohammad Hafeez, a legend from Pakistan, is currently the team’s head coach and director. The batting coach is Adam Hollioake, and the fielding coach is Abdul Majeed. Additionally, Saeed Ajmal is the spin bowling coach and Umar Gul is the fast bowling coach. Morne Morkel was Pakistan’s bowling coach for the 2023 ODI World Cup, however he quit when the Babar-led team lost the competition.
