After the Mumbai Indians (MI) lost their match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) by six wickets on April 1, their third straight loss in the ongoing IPL 2024, bowler Akash Madhwal spoke candidly about the team’s general mood. MI could only manage a meagre 125 runs after being asked to bat first. Madhwal was impressive with the ball, taking three wickets even though the team lost.
Akash Madhwal talked about his teammates’ support for MI after the game. Additionally, he said that they will return stronger in the upcoming games.
“There’s a great team atmosphere here. During the practice match, I had conversations with both Rohit and Hardik, and they are both supportive. There was also Bumrah Bhai.
The official MI website cited Akash Madhwal as saying, “We should perform better in the upcoming games.”
In MI’s opening two games against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans, Akash Madhwal was benched. In response to a question concerning his absence from the starting lineup, the 30-year-old said he thought the squad had chosen the optimal combination for both games.
“The combinations for the first two games were good in their own right, as world-class bowlers constantly compete for a place in the team,” he said.

The right-arm bowler, who had been awful at the bat, also talked about their strategy during the innings break, saying they had talked about getting wickets soon.
Even during the strategic timeout, we talked about following the game plan and gaining an advantage by capturing two to three wickets. We needed to nail the fundamentals because of the state of the wicket. It was wicket-to-wicket bowling for us. Every bowler in our group did what we had instructed. Because the pitch favoured quick bowlers as well, we had intended to master the fundamentals and bowl wicket-to-wicket,” he continued.
