The Mumbai squad, captained by Ajinkya Rahane, will receive recognition from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for winning the just ended Irani Cup 2024. Mumbai has won 15 Irani Cup titles overall, and their historic victory is their first in 27 years.
The best of Mumbai cricket will be present at the felicitation ceremony, which will take place at the legendary Wankhede Stadium. Board officials, Apex Council members, maidan and club representatives, and members of the Cricket Improvement Committee will all be there, according to MCA president Ajinkya Naik.
MCA President Naik gave the team his congratulations on winning.
Mumbai proved to be a remarkable example of tenacity and will once more. The lads played cricket, or “khadoos,” according to tradition, and they did well all five days. With each member playing a well defined role, it was the epitome of teamwork. This Irani Cup victory adds another feather to our cap after we won the Ranji Trophy last year,” he said in a statement.
Mumbai wins its fifteenth Irani Cup.
In the summit match, Mumbai took on the Rest of India (ROI) team and used aggressive cricket to create a 121-run lead in the first innings, which ultimately helped them win.
Mumbai managed to put up a 450-run goal thanks to Sarfaraz Khan’s undefeated 222 in the first innings and Tanush Kotian’s vital 114 in the second.
