Mastercard made the announcement on Monday that it would be working together with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to expand its strategic outreach to audiences in India. During the course of this association, Mastercard will serve as the title sponsor for all international matches (both women and men) played on home ground, all domestic cricket matches organised by the BCCI such as the Irani Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and Ranji Trophy, and all junior cricket matches (Under 19 and Under 23) played in India. In addition, Mastercard will be the title sponsor for all Under 19 and Under 23 matches played in India.

Through this sponsorship and the various activations that will surround it, Mastercard hopes to strengthen its connection with fans of cricket all around the country and the world. Mastercard’s partnership with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) adds another level of distinction to the company’s already impressive roster of affiliations, which already includes high-profile events and organisations such as the UEFA Champions League, the Grammy Awards, the Cannes Film Festival, and the Australian and French Open tennis tournaments.

An official statement attributed to Sourav Ganguly, President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), reads as follows: “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) extends its gratitude to Mastercard for becoming the Title Sponsor of the domestic cricket matches for the 2022-2023 season. Domestic tournaments hosted by the BCCI are equally as important as India’s home international series since they serve as a stepping stone on the path to developing a formidable national and international team. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is grateful to Mastercard for their help in developing Indian cricket. This sport is more than just a hobby; it’s a way of life, and we are excited to bring new and exciting experiences to the fans as a result of our partnership with Mastercard. In addition, we will be able to provide value to Mastercard as a result of our work together.”

ay Shah, Secretary, BCCI said: “The British and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (BCCI) is delighted to announce its association with Mastercard, a major brand that is recognised all over the world. We are in for an exciting period in Indian Cricket as we have Australia and South Africa coming over for white-ball series before the T20 World Cup and Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy early next year. At the same time, domestic cricket has a packed calendar with the return of the Duleep Trophy and a full-fledged Ranji Trophy season. This is going to be an exciting time for Indian Cricket. I am convinced that this will be a fruitful cooperation by the time the 2022-2023 season rolls around, which will see a lot of action spanning multiple age groups.”

The great Indian cricketer MS Dhoni, who has served as an ambassador for Mastercard for more than four years, said the following: “My entire life has revolved around cricket, and the sport is the source of all of my success. I am overjoyed to learn that Mastercard would be the title sponsor of all of the BCCI’s home cricket tournaments, in particular the domestic, junior, and women’s cricket competitions. The Ranji and junior players of today will one day represent India at the international level and continue to personify the nation’s 1.3 billion people’s sense of pride.”
