Marnus Labuschagne on his conversation with Virat Kohli: "It's always wonderful when Virat says you have played a decent stroke."

Team India dominated the opening day of the first Test match against Australia, which was taking place as the Border Gavaskar Trophy was in full swing. The Indian bowling attack, particularly the spinners, dominated the day, limiting the Australians to a score of only 177 runs in the first innings.

Marnus Labuschagne led the Australians in scoring with 49. (123). After the first day was over, the 28-year-old came up to talk about his teasing of Virat Kohli during the match. When Kohli advised that Labuschagne may have shouldered his arms to a delivery from Ravindra Jadeja in the first ball of the sixth over, Labuschagne missed it.

After playing a cover drive, the Australian hitter later smashed a four, earning applause from Kohli. In an interview with Sen Cricket, Labuschagne discussed the subject, saying: “Yeah, it’s always good when Virat believes you played a decent shot there. I definitely picked up a few shots from him.

To win the series, we are here: Labuschagne

The Australian squad was in trouble at the first day’s stumps. At the end of the first day, Team India had nine wickets in hand but trailed by 100 runs. KL Rahul was bowled after hitting just 20 runs, giving the Aussies a much-needed breakthrough thanks to 22-year-old Todd Murphy. According to Labuschagne, the Australians will need a very exceptional batting display to win this game.

Since our goal is to win the series, Labuschagne continued, “We are going to make sure that we work as hard as we possibly can and battle our way back into the match by putting up a remarkable performance with the bat.”
After Todd Murphy’s outstanding debut performance on the first day, the 28-year-old also had nothing but admiration for the rookie. Murphy has the mentality and talent to succeed, according to Labuschagne. At the conclusion of day 1, Team India sent in Ravichandran Ashwin to bat following the loss of the first wicket.
