Moeen Ali, an all-round cricketer from England, is the latest player Major League Cricket (MLC) wants for their upcoming franchise event, which starts on July 13. Notably, according to The Telegraph, Moeen’s Indian Premier League (IPL) team, the Chennai Super Kings, is planning to give him a two-year contract that will allow him to play for both the Texas Super Kings in the USA and the Joburg Super Kings, CSK’s sister team in South Africa.
The 35-year-old has played in 74 T20Is and scored 1076 runs while doing so. He also has 42 wickets to his name. So, he has a lot of practice in the shortest format, and he has also done well for the Super Kings franchise in the past.
He also gets along well with them, and now the plan is to take their relationship to the next level. If the cricket player decides to sign with them, the franchise will be in charge of his plan. He will also have to give up his deal with England, which could put his spot in the next ODI World Cup in danger.
It’s interesting that Ali is the second cricketer to receive a call from an Major League Cricket club. Jason Roy just signed with the Los Angeles Knight Riders.
This has already made a lot of noise in the world of cricket. The cricketer said on May 25 that his main goal is to play for England, but since the Three Lions don’t have any international games right now, he’d rather play in the first edition of the competition. Because of this, the opener has ended his contract with the England and Wales Cricket Board.
“Since I only play one format and don’t have a central contract, I wanted to take advantage of the fact that there are no schedule conflicts with England and play in this competition. As a player for England, it helps me if I can play as much competitive cricket as I can. To be clear, England cricket is my top focus, especially since the World Cup is coming up soon. Roy said in a statement, “Getting a cap to play for my country is the greatest honor for me and for any player.”
