For the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have hired Sridharan Sriram as their assistant coach, rounding out their coaching team for the IPL 2024.
It is important to note that Gautam Gambhir, a global mentor, and former Australia head coach Justin Langer will serve as the team’s leaders. Vijay Dahiya and Pravin Tambe will also keep up their positions as the assistant coach and spin bowling coach, respectively, in the system.
Morne Morkel and Jonty Rhodes, both from South Africa, continue to serve as the fielding coach and bowling coach, respectively. LSG shared their newest hire on social media and emphasized their excitement about having him join them for the lucrative T20 league’s next season.
“Sridharan Sriram has a wealth of coaching expertise with him. He skillfully guided the Bangladesh men’s national T-20 squad during his time there to two noteworthy victories in the Super-12s of the T-20 World Cup (2022). The experienced coach is welcomed with open arms by RPSG Sports and Lucknow Super Giants, who are anticipating an exciting adventure ahead. LSG was posted by them online.
During his time with the Australian team, Sridharan has worked with Langer before. He began working as an assistant coach in the Australian coaching system in 2015, focusing on batting and spin bowling with IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2022.
Following the completion of the IPL 2022, he was given the job of leading the Bangladeshi team at both the 2022 T20 World Cup and the 2022 Asia Cup. Notably, according to rumors, the IPL 2024 mini-auction would likely occur in late December with a few adjustments made to the franchises’ financial situation.
For the 2019 auction, the BCCI will probably raise the budget to INR 100 crore. The franchises will be free to retain as many players as they like, and the remaining players will be put up for auction. The auction’s date will probably be chosen after the keenly awaited 2023 ODI World Cup is over.
