Before the Duleep Trophy 2024, which kicks off India’s domestic 2024–25 season, wicketkeeper-battler Rishabh Pant talked about his comeback to red-ball cricket and what he expects from the competition. Pant expressed his excitement for his domestic responsibilities and the necessity for cricketers to contribute back to domestic cricket.
Rishabh Pant received a rousing welcome in the IPL 2024, having returned to competitive cricket a year after suffering a tragic vehicle accident in December of 2022. The young cricketer contributed greatly to India’s victorious T20 World Cup 2024 campaign following the just concluded IPL.
“I think it is an amazing feeling for me,” Pant said to JioCinema of his return to red-ball cricket. “I used to always think about when I will be able to play for India again after I met with the accident two years ago.” I played in the IPL for the past six months, and we won the World Cup. I’ve been dreaming of winning the World Cup since I was a little child, so it’s a wonderful feeling. I’m playing red ball cricket again, and I’ll be playing in the Duleep Trophy for the first time in almost two years.
Rishabh Pant went on to say, “I think it is very important for us to play domestic cricket because as a cricketer match practice is always very important.”
with reference to the Duleep trophy. The kids pick up a lot of knowledge from us, especially when it comes to domestic cricket, as they watch you play here even after you’ve played internationally. There is much that domestic cricket may benefit from. Since we are all here because we played domestic cricket to get there, it also allows us to share with our colleagues all the knowledge and insights we have gained from playing international cricket. This is especially beneficial to the younger players and newbies.
Regarding their preparation for the forthcoming India-Bangladesh series, the wicketkeeper-battler said, “Asian countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka perform well in Asian conditions because they are accustomed to the wickets.” As the Indian cricket team, though, we just think about our own performance and areas for improvement. We try to play with the same intensity and give it our all every day, no matter who the opposition is.”

Pant shared a glimpse into his international cricket thinking, saying, “I think there will always be pressure because in international cricket, series are not something to be taken lightly. Not only is the difference between winning and losing so tiny, but the difference between international teams is also getting smaller these days. But we still have to give it our all, and thus far, that way of thinking has served me well.”
