The fastest delivery in bowling history is held by Shoaib Akhtar
Originating from Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province’s Dera Ismail Khan area, the 30-year-old cricket player left his village at the age of eighteen to follow his aspirations. Imran, who is currently living in Muscat, Oman, manages to combine his love of cricket with a day job installing security cameras.
With his deadly yorkers and rapid pace, the ‘Rawalpindi rapid’ terrified batters during his brilliant career, which he started in 1997. In 46 Test matches, he amassed 178 wickets; his last Test match took place in Bangalore in 2007 against India. Akhtar took 247 wickets in One-Day Internationals and 19 wickets in fifteen Twenty20 Internationals. He is still the record holder for the quickest bowling bowl. Against England’s left-handed hitter Nick Knight during the 2003 World Cup, he accomplished an unprecedented achievement by cloaking a delivery at 161.3 kmph.
