The game will take place at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday, October 19, at 2:00 p.m. (IST) World Cup.
The team lead by Rohit Sharma is now in first place on the standings after winning each of their first three matches. They defeated their bitter rivals Pakistan in their previous match in Ahmedabad by a margin of seven wickets. After winning the toss and electing to bat second, India reached the modest 192-run goal in just 30.3 overs, aided by half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer. Earlier, Indian bowlers destroyed the Men in Green by a pitiful margin of 191 runs after raging from the start of the first innings.
In contrast, Bangladesh lost against New Zealand by an eight-wicket margin in Chennai. Bangladesh scored 245 runs in the allowed overs after being selected to bat first, thanks in large part to Mushfiqur Rahim’s half-century. As the Kiwis successfully chased down the mark in 42.5 overs, Sakib Al Hasan and company were unable to protect their score.
With a victory over Australia, the most successful team in tournament history, India got off to one of their best starts ever. The Men in Blue then faced a team led by Hashmatullah Shahidi and defeated them by an eight-wicket margin.
Bangladesh, meanwhile, won their opening match against Afghanistan. However, in their subsequent encounter, they were unable to defeat the reigning champions, Egland.
In the main competition, India will try to maintain their current success. Bangladesh will also be hungry to win the competition for the second time. However, going into the game, the hosts will be the favorites.
