Earlier in the day, after electing to field, Northern Superchargers Women did really well to restrict the opposition to 130. Welsh Fire Women looked all set for 150 after the start Hayley Matthews provided but wickets at regular intervals kept them to the 130-run mark. That too at one stage seemed like would be enough but the brilliance of Jemimah Rodrigues took her side over the line.
Welsh Fire Women were really good with the ball to begin with but that was that! After that, they had no answers to the hitting by Jemimah Rodrigues. Also, it just kept going wrong for them, a lot of misfields, some wayward bowling, no balls at wrong times and they had to pay for all those mistakes as they went onto lose the game.
4-19 is what her team's score was when she walked out to bat! It seemed all over but we were in store for something special. She along with Alice Davidson-Richards combined for over a 100-run stand to take their side over the line. Most of the runs in that partnership were scored by Jemimah Rodrigues but take nothing away from Alice Davidson-Richards' innings! She hardly dotted and just kept turning the strike over and that is exactly what was needed at that moment. Jemimah Rodrigues on the other hand smashed the bowlers, picked her spots and did extremely well. An innings of a lifetime one has to say.
