Adds that she feels they fell short by 20-30 runs. Mentions they will look to work on partnerships in the next game. Praises Pooja for her incredible spell. Says they will look to win in the next match.
Pooja Vastrakar is the Player of the Match. She says that she only aimed to bowl at the right areas and get her side back in the game. Mentions the wicket was really good and hitting the hard length really helped. Adds the team bonding session certainly helped them and that's the reason why they were looking like a unit on the field.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Smriti Mandhana the skipper of Trailblazers says that it wasn't the result they were looking for. She praises her bowlers for top performance to restrict Supernovas to around 160. Adds they lost wickets in a cluster and they will surely look to work on it. Says she always tried to keep her bowlers calm and even said to them not to worry when they go for a boundary as it was a batting deck. Hopes the side to come back stronger and not repeat the same mistakes.
Earlier in the day, Harmanpreet Kaur took a bold decision of batting first. They put on a great batting show and set a target of 164. It was always going to be tough for Trailblazers to chase this down against a lethal bowling attack. But they got off to a great start and were on track to chase this down. However, they kept losing wickets which made things tough for them. Supernovas were exceptional with the bat, fiery on the field, and on cue with the ball, which resulted in them winning the game comfortably.
Trailblazers got off to a flying start. Smriti Mandhana and Hayley Matthews started making full use of the field restrictions and notched up 39 runs within the first 5 overs. Hayley Matthews did perish after that but Trailblazers were well on course to chase down the target as they scored 48 runs in the Powerplay. They were scoring at a rate of close to 9 runs till the 7th over. But it was Pooja Vastrakar's over that changed the game completely and shifted the momentum towards Supernovas. She struck twice in the 8th over and put Trailblazers under immense pressure. Other bowlers capitalized on that and continued to take wickets at regular intervals. Trailblazers went from 62 for 1 to 73 for 7 and lost their way completely and never found it back. Pooja Vastrakar ended with 4 wickets, while Alana King and Sophie Ecclestone grabbed two wickets each.
Supernovas begin their campaign with a thumping win over the defending champions, Trailblazers! It's been a stupendous bowling performance from Harmanpreet Kaur's troops and they have got the vital points.
