Right then, that's all from this exciting game. Melbourne Renegades take all the points here. However, the action in the Big Bash League 2022-23 continues on Monday, 19th December as Hobart Hurricanes take on Perth Scorchers. That game will begin at 1.45 pm IST (8.15 am GMT). Do join us in advance for the build-up. Until then, take care and goodbye!
Aaron Finch is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his match-winning knock of 70 off 43 balls. He says that he looked to take it deep and they got the winning runs in the final over. Adds that he knew if they got to 160 in the final over, they would win and with a bit of luck on their side, they got to it. Says that it is all about studying the opposition and putting in the work to get ahead of them. On the stadium, he says that it is a great ground and the wicket here is good, having a bit in it for everyone. Mentions that it is all about watching the youngsters on the side improve and is happy about it.
Presentaion Time...
Earlier in the innings, after electing to bat first, the Sydney Thunder did exceptionally well to rebound from their previous game's disastrous batting performance by posting a competitive total on the board, thanks to a half-century from Rilee Rossouw and contributions from Alex Ross and Oliver Davies. However, their bowler could not back them, and a masterclass from Aaron Finch meant that they were handed their second defeat of the season.
Sydney Thunder will not be happy with their bowling effort as they know they have let this one slip away from them. They put early pressure on the Renegades by picking up a wicket in the very first over, but could not build on that and allowed their opponents to get back in the game. They did manage to make the game interesting by picking up a few wickets in the middle, but in the end they were outclassed by the calmness of Aaron Finch. Daniel Sams was their best bowler picking up three wickets while Gurinder Sandhu got a couple, but was way too expensive as well. They have lost two in a row now, and will need to comeback stronger in the next game.
Melbourne Renegades got off to a shaky start as they lost Sam Harper pretty early. It was then Nic Maddinson who continued his good form and steadied the ship a bit along with Jake Fraser-McGurk before the later got dismissed. After that Aaron Finch came in and showed his class and both of them stitched up 49-run partnership to set a good platform for them. However, things did not went to plan as they lost three wickets in quick succession which also included the scalp of Andre Russell in the Power Surge who could not deliver this time. That did not stop Aaron Finch though as he utilised the Surge well and got to his half-century as well. He remained unbeaten on 70 off just 43 balls and finished the job for his side with some help from Akeal Hosein as well.
Take a bow, Aaron Finch! This is the Aaron Finch we know and he has done it for the Melbourne Renegades. They win a thriller here and make it two wins out of two.

That's it, Aaron Finch has done it and he seals the win with a big classy knock. This is full and at the stumps, Finch stays deep and hammers it back into the deck. The ball bounces over the bowler's head who leaps up fails to get a hand on it. The ball goes toward long on but they are able to get back for two and Melbourne Renegades win by 4 wickets.

SIX! All the way! Gurinder Sandhu misses the yorker and ends up bowling a full toss on off stump. Aaron Finch clears the front leg and smokes it flat and hard over the long on fence for a maximum. 4 needed now off 3 balls.

OUT! CAUGHT! Gurinder Sandhu starts the final over with a bang. This is pitched up and angled across the batter. Akeal Hosein goes deep in his crease and looks to loft it over long off. The ball is sliced high and around the extra cover region. Oliver Davies over there settles under it and takes a simple catch.
Gurinder Sandhu (3-0-40-1) to bowl the last over. Can he defend 10 runs?
