Mitchell Swepson is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his fine bowling effort. He says that the pitch was tricky with a slower outfield and the ball holding on to the pitch made it even tougher for the batsmen to get going. He adds, that there was a lot of planning that went down for the match and the matchups in particular and concludes that it was great to ball in tandem with Matthew Kuhnemann who is his spin twin.

Earlier in the game, Brisbane Heat posted a fighting total on the board with good contributions from Colin Munro, Nathan McSweeney, Matt Renshaw, and Sam Billings. Tanveer Sangha was the pick of the bowlers for Sydney Thunder with three wickets while Zaman Khan picked up a couple including his first-ever in this tournament. While chasing, the Thunder just could not get going, there were a couple of good individual knocks but the excellent bowling performance from the Heat made sure they go home empty-handed here.
Brisbane Heat, on the other hand, will be happy with their effort with the ball and were massively helped by the conditions as there was not much dew to impact the game. Michael Neser set the tone by getting rid of Hales in the first over while Xavier Bartlett followed it up by another. The spinners were brilliant in the middle overs checked the runs and shared four wickets equally among themselves. They had the Thunder in a troublesome position but conceded a lot of runs in the Surge which made things a lot closer. However, they were able to pull things back when Matthew Kuhnemann got rid of Green, and Xavier Bartlett wrapped things up for them nicely ending up with three wickets and taking his side to a comfortable victory.
Sydney Thunder got off to the worst possible start as they lost their key opener, Alex Hales for a golden duck. Matthew Gilkes survived a close call with a good review in the second over but couldn't make much impact. Cameron Bancroft and Oliver Davies steadied things for them but the former too was dismissed just when he was starting to free his arms. That started a mini collapse for them as they went from 51/3 to 80/6, and lost Davies for 35 runs who was dismissed in the process of chasing the asking rate. Their skipper, Chris Green then took responsibility in his own hands and went bang bang in the Power Surge. However, he too could not stay till the end and they were bowled out falling short by 20 runs.
A comprehensive victory for Brisbane Heat! They extend their unbeaten run to three games now and are looking like one of the early contenders for this season. Even after missing the likes of Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne, they have performed collectively and everyone has contributed in their roles as they add two more points to their bag.

Short ball outside the off stump line and Chris Green looks to go over the covers fielder but mistimes it in the air towards covers where Mitchell Swepson runs backwards and pouches it a with a bit of fumble but holds on to it.
