Madurai will be disappointed with that effort as neither their batting nor their bowling went as planned. They scored just 126 runs and out of those, 64 were made by their skipper Hari Nishaanth which shows how less all the other batters contributed. Washington Sundar did get a start with the bat but couldn't go on to get a 30 or 40 odd. Their bowling too wasn't at its best and even though they got a couple of quick wickets between overs 3 and 5, the bowlers simply conceded runs at an alarming rate and were blown away by the opposition.
Nellai with a stellar showing with both bat and ball have cruised to a win here and have opened their account on the points table. It really was the bowling that set everything up for them. Nellai restricted Madurai to just 126 runs as Sonu Yadav and M Poiyamozhi picked up a couple of wickets each and the latter hardly went for runs. But S Mohan Prasath was the star with the ball picking up 3 vital wickets. Coming to their batting, Arun Karthik played a blinder of a cameo up top and then Nidhish Rajagopal also made 42 quick runs to set up the run chase beautifully. In the end, they simply cruised to victory inside 14 overs.
