Right! This game is out of the way. Now, the match which the whole of Australia would be eagerly waiting for. And perhaps, the semi-finalists from Group B - Australia versus New Zealand. Do not be surprised if the number of Kiwi supporters outdo the Aussie ones. That game begins at 3 pm local (0400 GMT). Do join us for that quarter-final.
Victorious Sri Lankan skipper, Chamari Atapattu, is very happy with this win. Says that this was a very tough game for them but the batters and bowlers did well. On the emotions pouring out in the final game of Shashikala Siriwardene, Atapattu says that she will miss her, calling Shashikala her big sister. Tears flow down her cheeks as she remembers the support given by Shashikala to her and says that she has retired as a champion.
Bangladesh captain, Salma Khatun, says that the batting was not great while the fielding was poor. But reckons that the team is good, albeit not performing. On future plans, Salma says that they will rest for a while now, back at home and then play League cricket.
SHASHIKALA SIRIWARDENE HAS BEEN NAMED THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH, in her final game. Suppresses her tears and says that it is not easy to leave the sport after playing for 17 years, hence the emotions. States that she will miss the team and the generations which played with her. Thanks everyone for protecting her and nursing her injuries, which is why she could play for so long. On future plans, Shashikala says that she will be in touch with the game and will look to contribute in some way. On fond memories, she remembers her late father and dedicates her entire career to him. Then her mother and now, her husband, for supporting her to play cricket post marriage. Then, she remembers her coaches through childhood and the physios, coaches, etc... Comes down to media support, fans, etc.. and hopes that they will continue to support the team. Thanks all her captains and wishes Chamari Atapattu all the best for the future.
Forgetful way to end the tournament for Bangladesh. They gave their best in their first game but then slipped from the next. They gave India a run for their money, were hammered by Australia, blew up a simple run chase against New Zealand and looked listless here. Apart from Ritu Moni, no one even looked like taking a wicket. Please stay tuned to find what the captain thinks about the game...
Earlier in the day, a disciplined bowling performance saw Sri Lanka restrict Bangladesh to just 91. The fielding was impressive, something which we did not see at all in the previous three games. Did the fact that there was no pressure in this dead rubber, enable them to give their best?
Why below-par? Because the performance in this game was not seen in any of their previous ones. The batting has all been about Chamari Atapattu but in this match, the batting showed its true potential. Hasini Perera started the attack and then Anushka Sanjeewani played beautifully.
Wooden spoon avoided by Sri Lanka. They have earned their biggest T20I win, in terms of wickets and it is a fitting send-off to the legend Shashikala Siriwardene. A consolation win in a below-par tournament.

OUT! STUMPED! Well, you cannot blame Atapattu or anyone else if they have got the shock of their lives. It seemed a totally harmless appeal and looked as if it was referred upstairs just for the sake of it. But good that the technology was used. Full and outside off, Atapattu looked to drive this through the off side but missed. The keeper whipped the bails off and appealed. But the umpire, almost disinterested, referred it upstairs. However, the first replay showed that the foot was on the line! End of a fine opening stand.

The players are back out in the middle. Chamari Atapattu and Hasini Perera are the openers for Sri Lanka. Salma Khatun will start off proceedings to Perera. Here we go...
What was that? It seemed as if Bangladesh simply did not turn up. There was no intent in scoring and only three batters reached double figures. Sri Lanka were tight in the field and did not allow the Bangladeshis to get away at all. Shashikala Siriwardene, in her final game, finished with 4 wickets. But Dilhari, Prabodhani and Kulasuriya choked the opposition. This should be an easy chase. Stay tuned.
Shashikala Siriwardene is down for a chat with Alan Wilkins. On being asked about today's performance, Shashikala says that she is feeling very happy as she could contribute in he final game for her team. On being emotional, Siriwardene admits she was, at the start, but soon got over it. Thanks both teams for giving her the respect. On her retirement decision, Shashikala says that she has played cricket for 17 years, which is nearly 75 percent of her life. States that there are personal priorities in her life and she is getting old. Smiles and says that she wished to have at least one 5-fer in her career but is happy with the same.

OUT! LBW! Given Fargana's confidence, one felt that there was bat. But nope. Full and in line of the stumps, Fargana got down to sweep but missed. She was hit flush on the pads and at that moment itself, one felt it was plumb. Hoque immediately took the review though. No spike on the Ultra Edge. Ball Tracker shows it to be spinning down the leg side but just about clipping the outer half of leg stump. Not a bad review. It is retained but the batter is gone. A decent 31-run stand has been broken.

NOT OUT. Review gone. Full and outside off, angling away, Nigar reaches out to push but misses. The bowler and keeper get excited but the umpire is unmoved. There is a lot of chitchat and eventually, the review is taken. Ultra Edge shows nothing.
Is that another wicket? Prabodhani is confident that Nigar has nicked this. Atapattu takes the review. Nothing on the Ultra Edge.

WIDE. A short ball, down the leg side, Fargana looks to pull but misses. The bowler thinks there is glove involved and wants the review. The captain comes in but then is advised not to take the review. Ultra Edge detects nothing.
Fargana Hoque walks in at number 5, on the final ball of the Powerplay.

OUT! LBW! Three down in the Powerplay! Kulasuriya has two in the over. A length ball, outside off, Ayasha looks to defend but the ball comes back in off the seam and hits her on the pads. Kulasuriya appeals, the umpire takes her time and eventually raises her finger. Rahman is not too sure. She walks down the pitch, has a long chat with Sultana and then signals for the review. But she is TIMED OUT. Ball Tracker shows that it would have been umpire's call on hitting the stumps. Clipping the bails.

OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Kulasuriya strikes with her first ball. Not her best but she will take it. Short and wide outside off, there to be hit and Sanjida slashes hard. But there is no foot movement and the result is a thin outside edge. The ball dies on its way to the keeper but Anushka Sanjeewani dives low and to her right to snaffles it.
Achini Kulasuriya to bowl the final over of the Powerplay.

MISSES THE STUMPS! Lot of turn. Full and outside off, Islam gets across, looks to sweep but misses this time. The ball spins past the leg stump and the blinded keeper cannot do much. The ball goes between her legs. Good stop by short fine leg.

FOUR! Excellent batting. Full and in line of the stumps, a bit quicker as well, Sanjida again gets across and sweeps it powerfully through square leg. There is a fielder in the deep who runs barely 10 paces to her right but the ball races past her!

OUT! CAUGHT! The accuracy of Siriwardene is terrific. Full and around off, Murshida looks to play the slog sweep but gets a massive top edge. The ball is high in the air and Hasini Perera from first slip calls for it. She runs towards leg slip, loses it in the air as the ball swirls but then manages to take it in the end with a dive. Early strike then.

This does not look good at all. Umesha Thimashini is clutching her left shoulder and the physio is out in the middle. The hand is barely moving. This is looking really, really bad. And THIMASHINI IS GOING OFF.

Quick single but what has happened here? Umesha Thimashini is on the ground, yelping in pain. Ayasha pushed this down the ground and called for a quick single. Thimashini charged across from mid off and looked to dive but in the process, lost her balance and almost did a somersault. Deadly scenes.

DIRECT HIT WOULD HAVE BEEN CURTAINS! Full on middle, Murshida pushes it towards mid on and makes a late call for the single. The fielder charges onto the ball, has a shy at the bowler's end but misses. Khatun would have been gone.

The national anthems are done and the players take their positions on the field. Ayasha Rahman and Murshida Khatun are the Bangladesh openers. Udeshika Prabodhani, left-arm fast medium, to start off proceedings against Khatun. Here we go...
Time for the national anthems. Bangladesh's first.

Bangladesh captain, Salma Khatun says that the weather and wicket, both are good, hence the reason to bat first. Informs that there are two changes. TOSS - Time for the spin of the coin. Sri Lanka are the home team, so Chamari Atapattu will flip the coin. Heads is the call from Salma Khatun and it is a head. BANGLADESH WILL BAT FIRST.
It is quarter-finals day! Well, not in entirety. The tournament is reaching its dying stages and all eyes would be on the Australia-New Zealand encounter, to decide who would be the second semi-finalist, joining India. But first up, is a dead rubber, between two Asian sides - Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Both have been average in this tournament and would love to end it with a win, or at least bow out with some fight. Hello and a warm welcome to Match 17 from the Junction Oval in Melbourne.
