Nigar Sultana, the skipper of Bangladesh Women, is up for a chat. On being asked about her injury, says that she is fine now. Says that their bowlers did a great job but they should have batted well after the openers provided them with a good start. Mentions that they lost a lot of wickets in the middle overs and that cost them the game. Says that they will take a lot of positives from this game and will look to give their best in the next game.
Ayabonga Khaka is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. She says that getting to 100 ODI wickets means a lot. She couldn't wait to go in the middle and do the job and is glad that she did it. Tells that she stuck with her lines and lengths and it paid off. Mentions that one should just follow their heart and they'll do well. Credits Bangladesh Women for playing well and says that they bowled well and put them under pressure. Tells that they need to do better in the following games.
... THE PRESENTATION ...
South Africa Women were denied an early breakthrough and they were in a slight spot of bother when Bangladesh Women openers were going along nicely. It was Ayabonga Khaka who provided wickets at a crucial juncture of the game for South Africa Women and brought them back into the contest. She finished with figures of 10-3-32-4. The other bowlers also kept the batters on their toes and hardly gave away any freebies. Masabata Klaas grabbed a couple of wickets while Shabnim Ismail and Marizanne Kapp picked one wicket apiece.
Bangladesh Women got off to a sedate start but the opening pair of Shamima Sultana and Sharmin Akhter ensured that they don't lose wickets early on and kept the scoreboard ticking. However, they didn't score at a good rate and that meant, once Bangladesh Women lost both their openers, it was always going to be an uphill task for them. They lost wickets in a cluster in the middle overs and gave away the momentum. Their skipper, Nigar Sultana and Ritu Moni did try their best to take the game deep but the required rate kept creeping up and that resulted in Bangladesh Women crumbling under pressure. Not the worst outing for them, considering this was their first appearance in the World Cup.
A pretty comfortable victory in the end for South Africa Women and Bangladesh Women would be very disappointed as they were ahead in the game till the 19th over but completely lost the plot once their openers were sent back to the hut. The Proteas weren't at their best either but the brilliance of Ayabonga Khaka has ensured that they start the tournament on a winning note.
