Right then, that is all we have from this game. The PSL action continues on 16th February 2022, where Multan Sultans will take on Karachi Kings. That game starts at 8 pm IST (2.30 pm GMT). Our coverage will start well in advance. So do join us for that. Cheers!
Wahab Riaz, the skipper of Peshawar Zalmi, says runs on the board is always good and they planned to play an extra spinner and it worked. Mentions the way Haris played was really good and Talat and Malik performed when needed. Says there was a lot of dew and it was coming onto the bat and the ball was not gripping a lot. Ends by saying it was difficult to not play Amad Butt and Haider but they plan according to opposition what team they have to play.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, the skipper of Quetta Gladiators says they struggled in the middle overs but they did well to contain them to the 185 run mark and they should have chased it down. Adds the over from Qadir was turning point. Mentions they have been unfortunate with injuries but they will keep trying.
Hussain Talat is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. He says it was the team’s plan that he sat out in the last game but whenever he gets his chance he will try and do well. Mentions he tries to give his all in his bowling and he is working a lot on his bowling. Adds cross batted shots were hard to play and he finds it easy to bat with Shoaib and he enjoys it.
Stay tuned for the presentation.
Usman Qadir is down for a chat. He says that there is some pain in the ankle as he slided to stop the ball. He adds that he has worked hard in the nets after getting dropped and is happy to perform. He mentions that he was concentrating on executing his plans and was not thinking about the dew.
For the Zalmi, the spinners were the key, they were the ones who took the wickets, the important wickets we should say. Usman Qadir was the pick. He got the big wickets of Iftikhar Ahmed, James Vince and Umar Akmal whereas Liam Livingstone got the better of Roy. Talat too had a good day but the others struggled with the ball. However, the wickets at regular intervals meant that did not cost the Zalmi.
The Gladiators though got off to a very good start courtesy Roy, they though lost Vince and Roy quickly. Then there was a stand between Sarfaraz and Smeed but then Sarfaraz departed after getting off to a start. Smeed though continued and played a beautiful knock. He kept losing partners and in the end, all the onus came onto him. At one stage, he even got his side believing but once he fell, it all fell apart for his side. Had he got support, the story could have well been different.
A very good win and an important win for the Peshawar Zalmi and have to say, that over from Tanvir, in the first innings, against Cutting proved to be the difference. Had there not been that big over, Quetta Gladiators could have well been on the winning side.
