Tom Banton has been named as the Player of the Match for his amazing show with the bat.
The captain of the Qalandars, Sohail Akthar says the first game of every tournament is very important. Tells they saw chasing was easy yesterday and hence they decided to bowl. Tells Banton is a talented player and made an impact in the last season as well. Says they expected that sort of performance from Banton.
Earlier in the day, due to Tom Kohler-Cadmore's exploits, the Devils ended up with a decent total but it was not good enough. Rasooli partnered him well too from the other end. Jordan and Sultan were the pick of the lot for the Qalandars as they were economical and also were in the wickets column and eventually their good work with the ball paid off as the Qalandars chased down the total with 17 balls to spare.
The bowling by the Devils was poor. They did not pressurize the batters of the Qalandars and let them dictate the tempo. Right from the start, first Banton punished them and when he departed, Sharjeel went on a rampage. Only Ansari scalped a wicket while the rest of the attack went wicketless. A poor show with the ball.
Starting with the bat, their English import, Tom Banton started and went bang and bang. He scored a quickfire 45 runs off 18 balls and set the platform for the Qalandars to chase this total down. Sharjeel Khan was just a spectator when Tom was going hammer and tongs but when Banton fell, he took the onus upon himself and did well to chase this total down and win the game.
A comprehensive victory for the Qalandars this time around. They started off with a bang and did not reduce their pace and they have deservedly won this encounter by 9 wickets.
