Right then, that is it from the first game of the Women's Hundred 2024 where Oval Invincibles Women starts their campaign on a positive note while Birmingham Phoenix Women need to go back to the drawing board and come back with different solutions. However, the same two teams will be in action now, but in the Men's competition. That will begin in a short while and you can just switch tabs to enjoy all the build-up to that game Cheers!
Lauren Winfield-Hill, the victorious skipper of Oval Invincibles Women says that she really enjoyed her team's performance. Adds that Paige Scholfield batted really well and took calculated risks that worked out. Tells that when Chamari is back, she will take her usual opening slot. Mentions that 150 was just above par but they still had to bowl well to defend it.
Paige Scholfield is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for her brilliant knock of 71 off just 40 balls. She says she is buzzing with her performance. Adds that usually she comes in at the end but she enjoyed opening the innings. Tells that the wicket had a bit of tennis ball bounce but having an Aussie on the other end helped her settle in. Mentions that they have a long batting order and they also take pride in their fielding and that is an important aspect in this format.
Presentation Time...
Birmingham Phoenix Women were just outplayed! First, they put up a brilliant score despite losing a wicket early, Alice Capsey and Paige Scholfield were the stars. They put up 90, both scored half-tons, and helped their side to a big score. Then, it was their bowlers who rose to the occasion and gave them a big win. However, the Phoenix Women have a lot of work to do. They failed to win a single game last season and haven't gotten off to a good start here either. They have enough quality but the players need to step up if they want to achieve success here.
A thumping win for Oval Invincibles Women and they have begun their campaign in some style. They put up a score that we felt was above par and defended it easily. The openers began well for Birmingham Phoenix Women, however, once that was broken, it was one-way traffic. Amanda-Jade Wellington was the pick of the bowlers but she got excellent support from Marizanne Kapp who began things with the first and also from Mady Villiers and Ryana Macdonald-Gay.

There was never a run there. Baker moves to her right, picks up and breaks the stumps with Arlott not even halfway down the pitch. She has to go back now and Oval Invincibles Women are almost there.
