HEATHER KNIGHT HAS BEEN ADJUDGED THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH! That's all from this game! A dominating victory for Sydney Thunder and they will be pleased with their performance while Renegades continue to have a sorry season. They have just 2 wins in 10 games and are staring down the barrel. On Wednesday, 18th of November 2020, another 4 matches from the WBBL are lined up, starting with the clash between Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat. The action begins at 0930 local (2230 GMT, THE PREVIOUS DAY). Join us for that. Until then, cheers and take care.
Earlier in the game, Sydney Thunder were exceptional with the ball as they reduced the Melbourne Renegades to just 126 on the board. They were simply superb. The batting from the Renegades was disappointing and they never looked like they would get going. The target of 127 never looked threatening and Sydney made it look so easy as they won the game by 8 wickets in hand and 33 balls to spare.
The bowling from the Renegades was not upto the mark as they leaked a lot of runs at the start and they could never recover from that. They were defending a low score on this wicket and one cannot really blame the bowlers. They did try hard but the batting was just top class from Sydney and never gave them a chance to get ahead in the game. Overall, it was a disappointing performance from the Renegades.
Sydney Thunder did not have a big target to chase and they made it look very easy. They came out with intent and attacked the bowling from ball one. Tammy Beaumont and Rachel Trenaman started off really well but they lost their wickets in quick succession and that gave the Renegades a sniff. But Heather Knight and Rachael Haynes had other plans as they first steadied the ship and then attacked the bowlers to all parts of the ground. In the end, it was a brilliant performance from Sydney Thunder.
Domination! That is the word to use for the performance by Sydney Thunder! They have crushed the Renegades by 8 wickets and this is as easy a win as they could get. Just brilliant.
