CARLY LEESON IS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH! That's it from this game! The Renegades were very comprehensive and have wrapped this game up with some ease. The Strikers will need to bounce back in their next encounter if they want to make the playoffs. The action continues in the WBBL for Wednesday, as game 48 sees both the Sydney teams lock horns against each other. The Sydney Thunder go up against Sydney Sixers. That game starts at 1905 local (0805 GMT). Join us for that encounter. Until then, cheers.
Earlier in the day, the Strikers were restricted to a total of 122 courtesy of a good bowling show put up by the Renegades. They kept picking the wickets at regular intervals and never let the batters of Strikers settle down easily in the game. Laura Wolvaardt helped the Strikers reach a competitive total. All the bowlers of the Renegades were good but their star performer was, Carly Leeson who ended the game with figures of 4-0-14-3. Overall, a good show put up by the Renegades.
There is not much you could say about the bowling by the Strikers. They did not have the best show with the bat and the same followed with the ball. They needed some early wickets to apply some pressure but the duo of Lee and Molineux kept them on the backfoot and by the time they picked up some wickets, the game was already out of their reach.
Chasing 122 was not going to be the hardest thing to do, but they needed a strong foundation to start off and that was provided to them by Lizelle Lee and Sophie Molineux. They added 77 runs for the first wicket and there was no looking back after that. They chased this total down with 7 wickets to spare.
A comprehensive victory in the end for the Renegades! They needed a victory as their campaign has been poor and a strong performance will mean that they end this game on the right side of the result. This is their third victory of the tournament and it is well deserved.
