Man of the Match
D'Arcy Short
Commentry
That is all from this game. But we are not done with the day yet. Coming up next is the game between Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Renegades, at this very same venue, at 7.15 pm local (0815 GMT). Take a break and please do come back refreshed.
Not surprisingly, D'ARCY SHORT has been named the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. Hobart will want him in good form, especially with Matthew Wade not around. However, he seemed to have hurt his shoulder while fielding, so the Hurricanes will hope he is fine for their next match.
Earlier, Hobart recovered from a poor start to post a commanding total of 174/5. D'Arcy Short was the chief architect. making 72, after he was dropped on 23 by Daniel Worrall. The Strikers managed to pull it back in the middle overs once Short got out but lost the plot towards the end.
Save aside 3 overs from the 16th to the 18th where the Hurricanes perhaps took it a bit too lightly and conceded 43, they were always on top. James Faulkner was impressive with his variations, taking a 3-fer while Johan Botha strut his experience taking 2 wickets. Riley Meredith continues to knock on the door of the selectors with fast, accurate spells and bagged 2 in this game. Overall, a wonderful bowling performance as a unit.
Adelaide might look at this as a close game, a few runs from the top order here and there and all that, but in reality, they were never in the game. Their top and middle order were blown apart, with the score reading 49/6 and they certainly need to do a working over that. If it was rustiness, then it was fine but with games coming thick and fast, they need to be on their toes.
Well, a win which was already looking confirmed around 6 overs back but some excellent lower-order hitting by the Strikers would have given the Hurricanes some headache. It almost looked like Adelaide were cruising all of a sudden, before Hobart woke up from their slumber in the last 2 overs. 4 points to the home team then.

A dot to end the proceedings. A yorker, outside leg, Worrall backs away, looks to swing but misses. HOBART HURRICANES WIN BY 11 RUNS!

Cheers from the crowd again, as it witnesses just a couple of runs towards mid-wicket. 12 needed from the final ball.

Perfect yorker and the crowd roars, thinking it is a catch! On middle, Worrall looks to dig it out, does dig it out, but can only get it back to Boland on the bounce who leaps to collect.

A full toss, swung down to long on for a couple.

Outside off, slapped to swepeer cover for a run. Guess it has gone beyond bounds now. 16 needed from 4 balls.

Well played. A yorker, on leg stump, Worrall gets his bat down in time and gets it between his legs towards square leg for a single.
18 needed from the final over. Scott Boland to bowl. 3-0-33-0 so far. Just a wicket needed.

FOUR! CRACK! Gets plenty on that. Full and outside off, Worrall gets under this one and spanks it over cover!

That is a beauty. Terrific yorker, very close to the off stump, Daniel looks to dig it out but misses again. Lucky not to be bowled.
