Right! Glenn Maxwell's Stars were too hot to handle for Chris Lynn's Heat in the game no. 2 of the BBL 10. That's all from this game! However, the action will get bigger on Saturday, 12th of December 2020 as we will have the first double-header of the tournament. In the first game, Melbourne Stars will take on Sydney Thunder and the action will begin at 1605 local (0505 GMT). The second game will see Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers begin their campaign in the tournament. That game will start at 1915 local (0815 GMT). Do join us for those games. Until then, it is goodbye from our end. Take care!
Nathan Coulter-Nile is named Player of the Match. Tells that it is nice to start with the win. Says that he was a bit nervous while they were batting. Tells that the wicket suited their bowlers perfectly but adds it was a tough wicket to bat. Praises the skipper for the changes and his own bowling. Ends by saying that it is always nice to get points early in the tournament.
Earlier in the game, asked to bat first, Heat struggled to get going. None of their batters could go big. Bryant, Heazlett and Lynn got in but failed to carry on. Tom Cooper and Peirson were the other two batters who got themselves in but they too failed to accelerate. Eventually, they were bundled out to a very small score. It was the class of Nathan Coulter-Nile with the ball for Stars as he took 4-fer, giving away just 10. Hussain got 2 while the other bowlers kept things really tight to stop the Heat to a total which ended up a walk in the park for their batters.
The Heat bowlers had a very small total to defend. Xavier Bartlett, the debutant, struck gold in his first over. Heat struck a couple of more times in quick succession to push the Stars on the back foot. However, once Maxwell walked in, things became difficult for them. Matthew Kuhnemann was good with the ball too but they had very little to defend.
Chasing the total, Stars were off to a poor start as their star opener Stoinis failed to open his account and got dismissed on the 2nd ball. Fletcher soon fell but Cartwright did well to get himself in. He along with Maxwell made sure there wasn't much blip during the chase after that. Maxwell fell for a 26-ball 46 while Cartwright remained unbeaten on 46.
An easy win in the end for the Stars. They lost a couple of wickets early but Cartwright along with Maxwell made sure things were on track in this small chase. The bowlers set the game up nicely for them and the batters didn't disappoint. Stars bag all the 4 points on offer in this game!
