The Stand-in skipper for today's game, Sikandar Raza, and the captain of Zimbabwe Regis Chakabva are handed the trophy. The other players from Zimbabwe join them and they celebrate their series victory! Right then! It's a historic series for the home side. They have managed to win the T20I as well as the ODI series! While Bangladesh will be disappointed with their series defeat but will be smiling as they have ended their tour on a high! That's it from this series then, but there is plenty of cricket action going on around, just switch tabs and enjoy! It's goodbye from here!
Regis Chakabva the skipper of Zimbabwe says they wanted to play positive cricket and win the series. Adds that Sikandar Raza had good partnerships with the bat and they bowled well too throughout the series. Mentions that they have always spoken about having a positive attitude and they did exactly that in the T20I and ODI series! Concludes by saying that they do have a few injuries in the camp, but hopefully, they will be back for the series against India!
Tamim Iqbal the skipper of Bangladesh says that were struggling a bit and thought that the wicket was good again. Sikandar Raza is named the Player of the Series! He says that it would have been nice to win the fine ODI but they will try and work hard to improve their game. Stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier in this game, Zimbabwe put on a good bowling effort by restricting Bangladesh to their lowest total in this series. Anamul Haque and Afif Hossain's half-tons helped Bangladesh put a total of 256 on the board which turned out to be enough in the end. In reply, Zimbabwe failed to get going, their last wicket put on an entertaining stand and gave something to cheer about to the fans at Harare. But eventually, they were handed a big defeat!
It's been a sorry batting performance from the home side in this final ODI! At the halfway mark of the match, they would have probably thought they would clinch this game and inflict an ODI series whitewash. But things did not go as planned for them. None of their batters found any sort of rhythm, some were bamboozled by the bowlers, while the others just gave away their wickets. Richard Ngarava and Victor Nyauchi put up a stand of 68 runs for the tenth wicket and took Zimbabwe to a score of 150 before Victor Nyauchi was dismissed. Zimbabwe's number 10 and number 11 were the top scorers in this game! Not a game that they would like to remember, but it's been a memorable series for them! They might have lost the final game but have secured the series 2-1!
Bangladesh bowlers were right on the money from the word go! Hasan Mahmud, Mehidy Hasan, and the debutant, Ebadot Hossain caused a lot of trouble with the new ball! They had Zimbabwe reeling at 18 for 4 in the sixth over and they made sure to capitalize on the start this time. They continued to grab wickets at regular intervals and demolished Zimbabwe's batting lineup. After failing to defend their target on the previous two occasions, the Bangla Tigers have defended a much lower total in this final game. The only thing that they will be disappointed about is that last wicket! They grabbed their ninth wicket in the 23rd over and managed to seal the game in the 33rd over. But you know what they say, Better late than never! Eventually, they did manage to bundle Zimbabwe out for a low score of 150! It's been a collective bowling performance for Bangladesh. Mustafizur Rahman was the leader of the pack as he grabbed four wickets in his spell. A special mention to Ebadot Hossain as well, who grabbed two wickets on his ODI debut including the prized scalp of Sikandar Raza!
After a bit of frustration towards the end, Bangladesh have finally managed to get over the line! What a turn of events we have just witnessed at the Harare Sports Club! Zimbabwe in the previous two ODIs chased targets of over 280, but failed to come out on top with the target being just 257! It's been a stupendous bowling performance from the visitors and they have ended the series with an emphatic victory!
