Right then! That is all we have from the first semi-final. The action from the Women's World Cup 2022 continues as South Africa Women will take on England Women in the second semi-final on Thursday, 31st March 2022. The match is set to begin at 6:30 am IST (1:00 am GMT). But as usual, our build-up will begin in advance. Do join us then. Till then, goodbye!
Meg Lanning, the skipper of Australia Women, says she has been involved in very stress full semi-finals and they expected another close game but Alyssa Healy and Rachael Haynes took the game away. Adds the Windies bowlers bowled well but the openers were excellent. Mentions that the first hour was challenging and the way Alyssa Healy and Rachael Haynes batted was really good and they showed a lot of discipline. Adds they felt they had a good platform and it was a chance for Ashleigh Gardner to be promoted. Mentions they were close to their perfect game and they enjoyed the win. Admits they don’t mind who they play, she might not watch a lot of the game as it makes her nervous but there will be others who will watch it.
Stafanie Taylor the skipper of West Indies Women, says that such a big partnership deflates the whole team and that is what the Aussies did and they failed to get over that. Mentions to chase that total down they needed to be positive and they needed one of the top three to play through but that did not happen, they needed a partnership like they got against India but that did not happen. States It was hard to get to 300 and they were wanting to get to over 200. Admits she hasn’t been at her best in this tournament and she has not contributed a lot with the bat but the team did really well.
Alyssa Healy is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. She says she is very pleased with her performance today, but she adds that she has not been clinical in her previous games. Adds that the group is doing an excellent job and someone in the top 6 is always contributing. Mentions she had to be patient at the start and batting with Rachael Haynes is always nice because she is so calm and level-headed. Adds that she is pleased to be in the final, that is what they came to do, and reckons the team was awesome in this game. Ends by saying they’ll watch the game tomorrow and then prepare for the finals.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
The Australian bowlers just had to hit the right line and length and they knew they would make it tough for the Windies. Except for Brown, the others were excellent. Except for her, all the bowlers got a wicket at least. Jess Jonassen was the pick with a two-fer. A very clinical outing for the Aussies and they continue their domination in this tournament.
West Indies Women lacked intent, it seemed like they just wanted to bat the quota of overs. Deandra Dottin did begin with fire but once she got out, the rest played at their own pace and when they tried to up the ante, they kept losing wickets. Nobody expected them to chase this down but the intent was extremely poor.
Australia Women it is then who are the first team to make it to the finals this year. This was never in doubt, to be honest after the way they batted. Alyssa Healy along with Rachael Haynes took them to a massive score which was never going to be easy to chase. Also, the way West Indies Women batted, it seemed like they had given up even before facing the first ball of their innings.

OUT! TAKEN! Taylor falls and that is also the end of the game. The umpires have flicked the bails off which means Henry and Anisa won't be coming out to bat. Tossed up and on off, Taylor swings, it goes off the top edge to short third man. Jess Jonassen takes another catch. AUSTRALIA WN BY 157 RUNS!
