Earlier in the evening, Adelaide Strikers' batting failed to get going at the death after a rollicking start provided by Philip Salt in the Powerplay. They managed a below par total at this venue but then their bowlers turned up. Melbourne Renegades were not allowed to score freely in the first six overs but since the asking rate wasn't much, the pair of Shaun Marsh and Aaron Finch combined to keep the touring team at bay.
Another excellent game of T20 and Adelaide Strikers have emerged victorious to keep their undefeated run going this season. Melbourne Renegades will be crestfallen at the moment. They were going on nicely at one stage when Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh were together for a partnership. But the wily leg spinner, Rashid Khan broke through the defense of SOS and then through an outstanding piece of fielding, the Afghan ran Finchy out. The 13th over turned out to be the game turning one where three wickets fell and completely derailed the Renegades run chase.

OUT! CAUGHT! Superb catch by Philip Salt in the deep and the ADELAIDE STRIKERS HAVE WON by 18 runs! Full ball on middle and leg, Richardson hits it hard towards the long on region. The ball almost goes the distance but Philip Salt on the fence takes a superb catch, getting up on his toes and doing brilliantly to maintain his balance. He just about manages to stay on the field and completes the catch. Sums up the fielding efforts of the Strikers throughout the match and they will be very happy with it.

OUT! BOWLED! Valente delivers a peach and Boyce has been sent packing. Final nail in the coffin maybe for the Renegades. Yorker on off, Boyce looks to shuffle and scoop but misses. The ball crashes into the off pole and Boyce has to return to the dugout. The Renegades need 23 off 5 now with a new man coming in. Miracle needed!
Cameron Valente to bowl the final over of the game. 3-0-32-0 so far from him.

SIX! But what an effort from the deep square leg fielder. A short ball on middle, Webster this time swivels and pulls it over deep square leg. The fielder there runs to his right and leaps to take the catch. He does so but his momentum takes him towards the ropes. He realizes that and loops the ball to another fielder. However, the fielder is not sure if that is a clean catch and the third umpire has been called on. While taking the catch, the fielder put his legs on the rope so six it is.

Bizarre stuff going on here at the Marvel Stadium! Rashid bowls a beauty, floating one up just outside off. The ball goes straight on and Webster misses his flick. Or so did everyone think! The Strikers appeal and the umpire seemed to raise his finger but then he started to SCRATCH HIS NOSE! The Strikers thought that they had got their man and started celebrating but instead the batters steal a run. A lot of confusion out in the middle. Rashid goes and has a talk with the umpire but nothing doing as the umpire thinks it was off the inside edge. In case there was no inside edge, it would have been plumb and the Ball Tracker confirms it by showing three reds. Comical incident and the social media surely will see the funnier side of it. Bring on the memes!

OUT! RUN OUT! How quickly can this game turn around? Strikers have struck like lightning here, shocking the Renegades. A good length ball on middle and leg bowled by Agar, Christian pushes this one to mid on where Salt is positioned. He rushes to the ball and goes for the direct hit at the non-striker's end. He hits bull's eye and the whole Strikers team is celebrating. They know that they have got their man but the umpire wants to refer it upstairs. Christian is already walking back and the replays confirm that he is indeed well short. Three wickets in an over and half the side back in the hut for the Melbourne Renegades.

OUT! CAUGHT! Two in two and the run chase looks to be in limbo now. A length ball on middle, Harris flicks but there's more height than distance on this one. It goes straight to Short at deep backward square leg. He pouches it easily and Renegades lose Harris too.
Beau Webster is in next.

OUT! RUN OUT! What fielding by Rashid Khan and Aaron Finch has to walk back. Disaster strikes! A good length ball on off, Finch plays this one towards short third man and the batters set off for one. Harris is set to complete his single but Rashid has the presence of mind to go at the non-striker's end. Finch is lazy in taking his run and that has cost him as Rashid hits the stumps with his throw. Finch is well short and the umpire raises his finger. A huge setback for the Renegades here.

OUT! Carey holds on nicely after some confusion! A fuller length ball around middle and leg, Harper hops back and goes for the heave across the line but ends up top edging it high in the night sky. It goes only as far as short third man. Carey and Rashid go after it and almost collide. But Carey does well in the end to gobble it up, that too on the second attempt while tumbling down. He gives Rashid a stare but they laugh it off in the end. Always tough pouching these skiers but the man with the gloves does well to hold on. Direct hit! Gone? Third umpire has been called in to confirm. But Christian knows he is short and he is going off.
Rashid Khan, the Afghan star is into the attack now.
Weatherald says that the outfield is really slow. Feels they are bowling really well but Finch is batting well too. On Rashid Khan's bowling, Weatherald feels that it won't be easy for the Renegades' batters.
Now, the target for the Renegades is 156. The outfield is really slow. Will Melbourne be able to chase it down and open their account or will Strikers continue their winning run and go to the top of the points table? Stay with us for the run chase.
As far as Renegades' bowling is concerned, Richardson struck early but Salt assaulted Gleeson and Gurney. Once Salt departed, Melbourne bowlers pulled things in their stride. Cameron Boyce was brilliant with the ball in the middle overs as he gave away just 18 in his 4 overs and picked up the wickets of Salt and Carey. He along with Daniel Christian really choked the Adelaide charge and built immense pressure. Kane Richardson in the final over got a couple to his name as well and ended the innings with a 4-fer.
Philip Salt gave the Strikers a brilliant start as he hammered Richard Gleeson and Harry Gurney for 7 boundaries inside two overs. However, his opening partner, Weatherald could not get going, Salt made sure to take the scoring opportunities and laid a strong platform. After that, Alex Carey, the skipper of Strikers, added 51 runs with Wells but they could not get going in that partnership. Gurney was brilliant in the penultimate over giving away just 3 runs. However, Rashid's final assault meant that the score went over 150.
A big final over, courtesy some late hitting from Rashid Khan means the Strikers take their total over 150. However, at one stage it looked like Adelaide were in for a bigger total.

Very full delivery on middle and off, Short does well to jam it out down to long on. Valente wants the second and sets off for it early. He completes it by putting in a dive. 14 runs come off the final over and the Adelaide Strikers finish on 155/6.

A slower bouncer around middle, White sits down and looks to slam it over deep mid-wicket but he does not get the required timing on it. OUT! CAUGHT! The dangerous Carey walks back to the pavilion and he would be disappointed with how he has been dismissed here. A full toss outside off, Carey looks to go for the slog over mid-wicket but does so half-heartedly. Kane Richardson is positioned in the deep and he takes a simple catch. A very important wicket in the context of the game as Carey could easily pull his side to a very good score. In back-to-back knocks, Alex has been dismissed in the 40s. Melbourne Renegades would not try to limit the damage in the end overs.
