That ends the action from match 16. The Heat jump up to 6th with this win, while the Hurricanes stay in third. Monday, 28th December, 2020, sees the Adelaide Strikers host the Perth Scorchers at the Adelaide Oval. The action begins at 6.45 pm local (0815 GMT). Do join us. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
LEWIS GREGORY HAS BEEN NAMED THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH. Gregory says that it is nice to have a win under your belt. Is happy to have come and played cricket after quarantine. Is happy to be able to contribute. Hopes that the Heat get some momentum with this win. Feels amazing in front of a home crowd and calls it a fantastic atmosphere, awaiting to play the next few games here. Admits that he was happy to get countryman Dawid Malan and says that it is fun to get players out whom you know.
Earlier in the day, the Hurricanes could not get any momentum going with the bat. Batsmen kept getting in, only to throw their starts away. In the end, a cameo from James Faulkner took them close to 150. The Heat were excellent with the ball with English import Lewis Gregory doing most of the damage, with 3 wickets in his first 9 balls.
The Hurricanes tried their best. They were carted all around the park in the first few overs but then, they found a way of getting back into the game. They were not far from victory either as Bazley's wicket could have made things interesting. They suffered a blow early on, with James Faulkner going off the field after bowling just 10 balls but then D'Arcy Short changed things around. His 3-fer gave hope to the Hurricanes while Meredith was at his pacy best. However, it could not help them in the end.
How to describe this run chase? It just shows the mentality of the Heat. Almost like a hit out or get out, hammering from the word go. It was Max Bryant setting the tone, with Sam Heazlett taking the game away, in an opening stand of 73. However, things changed after that, as the Heat slipped from 73/0 to 102/6. It could have been worse, with James Bazley continuing to live by the sword and die by the same, but in the end, his cameo of an unbeaten 31 from 19 balls took the Heat home.
Jimmy Peirson punches his fists in the air. The Heat earn their first win at last. They made a hash of it, but have scraped through eventually. They get 4 points, 1 for the Bash Boost and 3 for the win, so that is all welcome.

FOUR! There it is! Full and outside off, Peirson hammers this one too and it is well to the right of mid off, meaning it is pretty straight. BRISBANE HEAT WIN BY 4 WICKETS AND 16 BALLS TO SPARE!

A length ball, pretty straight, Bazley is squared up, as he look to defend and the outside edge runs to the right of short third man. A run taken. 9 more needed from 22 balls.

A length ball, around middle, Peirson tucks it towards mid-wicket and sets off for a single. Bazley is a touch late to respond and seeing that, Peirson stutters, but eventually, they make it through.
Nathan Ellis is back on. 2-0-14-1 so far.
