After spending a significant amount of time rejoicing in his hometown of Rosario following Argentina’s victory in the World Cup last month, Argentina’s captain Lionel Messi eventually boarded a private aircraft and flew to Paris late on Monday.
According to the local newspaper La Capital de Rosario, Messi and his family left about 10:00 pm (0100 GMT), which included his wife Antonela Roccuzzo and their sons Mateo, Thiago, and Ciro.
Two days after scoring two goals to lead Argentina to victory over France in the World Cup final match held in Qatar on December 18, the seven-time winner of the Ballon d’Or came in Rosario, which is located approximately 310 kilometres north of Buenos Aires.
The scheduled arrival time of the private jet in Paris is at around 14:00 local time on Tuesday.
Christophe Galtier, the coach of Paris Saint-Germain, stated a week ago that he anticipated Lionel Messi, who had spent Christmas and New Year’s at his family home, to return “January 2 or 3.”
The Ligue 1 leaders’ first two post-World Cup matches were therefore played without the 35-year-old player.
He should, however, be available for Paris Saint-French Germain’s Cup match against Chateauroux on Friday. There, he would team up once again with French teammate Kylian Mbappe, who finished on the losing side despite scoring a hat trick in that World Cup final, which Argentina won on penalties following a 3-3 draw. He would play against Chateauroux alongside Kylian Mbappe.
At the international airport in Rosario, there were a lot of fans waiting to see Messi leave, but there was also a big security presence there to keep them away from the forward and his family.
The triumph in December marked Argentina’s third World Cup victory overall and their first since the legendary Diego Maradona led the team to victory in 1986.
