The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold a Special General Meeting (SGM) in Ahmedabad on May 27. A core “working group” will be in place to run the October 2023 ODI World Cup. During the meeting for all affiliates, the apex board will talk about a five-point plan. Secretary Jay Shah will be in charge of the meeting.
News18 says that the BCCI president, secretary, treasurer, acting CEO, and other top officials will be part of the working group for the ODI’s main event. The board has set aside money to fix up the structures of stadiums that could host the ODI World Cup in October. These stadiums need to be updated and will be made more friendly to spectators. The team will also try to finalize the sites and make sure the World Cup runs smoothly at home.
The ICC has not yet announced the dates and times for the mega ODI tournament. Also, Team Pakistan hasn’t confirmed their tour for the event, which has an effect on how the schedule for the whole thing is set up.
A WPL committee will be set up to help with growth.
The BCCI will talk about having a group for the Women’s Premier League (WPL), which is another important point on the list. The committee will be made to make sure that the league and its players get better, along with a specific window that must be finished as soon as possible.
The organizers thought about having the event during Diwali. However, the ODI World Cup is set to happen at the same time, so the WPL might be moved to a different time.
“This year, the Australian women’s team won’t play foreign games until the third week of February, so you can’t start the WPL until then. “If you’re looking at the Diwali window, there’s the men’s World Cup,” a club official told News18 under the condition that he or she not be named.
At the SGM, the BCCI will also try to get its policy on stopping sexual harassment (PSH) approved. This comes after the sexual harassment claims against the former CEO of the BCCI, Rahul Johri, came to light.
