But in the upcoming SA20 season, Liam Livingstone will wear a new shade of blue as he joins the Pretoria Capitals from MI Cape Town.
The 31-year-old all-rounder played in all 10 of the round-robin games for the Newlands-based MI Cape Town team last season, making frequent appearances. With a best of 26, Livingstone scored 109 runs at an average of 12.11 and a strike-rate of 104.81. Throughout the competition, he hit seven sixes and five boundaries. He also used his leg spin to grab three wickets.
Later on, it was disclosed that Livingstone had been “in a pretty crap place” for the previous eighteen months due to a knee ailment that affected his performances. In the end, Livingstone quit the Indian Premier League early to “sort my knee” before the US and Caribbean ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Liam Livingstone will play for the Capitals with Will Jacks, a favourite player of Centurion supporters and fellow England player.
The Blackburn Rovers football fan could only resume playing “pain-free” after that point because he was receiving anti-inflammatory injections. Livingstone has been playing well lately for Lancashire in England’s T20 Blast and Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred, scoring 55 and 43 points, respectively, in his past two games. The positive outcomes are clear.
