However, in comparison to other grounds, Ekana has had comparatively fewer totals this season. LSG assistant coach Lance Klusener gave an explanation for why there haven’t been any absurdly high totals at Ekana Stadium.
In 44 games played so far in the Indian Premier League 2024, 26 different teams have scored 200 runs or more. There haven’t been any enormous totals at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium, however some could say that Rajasthan Royals defeated LSG by 197 runs on the same field.
Lance Klusener discussed the diverse surfaces and conditions that are offered in the IPL stadiums. This season, Ekana—which is renowned for its sluggish track—has not recorded a single 200-plus total. The highest score to date was achieved by LSG against PBKS, with a score of 199. Lance Klusener did not want to draw comparisons between the Lucknow stadium and other fields that appear to be great belters and where the ball has hit the bat wonderfully.
“I believe that since fields, arenas, and circumstances vary widely, we just need to take caution when assigning numbers. These huge victories have rarely been witnessed at Ekana Stadium. Therefore, I believe it is important that we avoid comparing our stadium to other stadiums. That is significant, in my opinion,” Lance Klusener stated, as reported by India Today.
We are making great progress, but we are not perfect: Lance Klusener
LSG had lost their last two games, but they had rallied spectacularly. In their most recent game, they triumphed over CSK, even on Chennai’s home field. But RR defeated Lucknow easily, winning by seven wickets. Speaking on the team’s defeat against RR, Klusener said that thus far in the campaign, they have not been consistent.
“However, I believe you should be more methodical. Teams must ensure that their fielding, batting, and bowling are at the peak of their game to win the Indian Premier League. In order to stay ahead of the competition, we are making a lot of progress in certain areas,” Klusener continued.
