Kumar Sangakkara Declines India Head Coach Role Due to Time Constraints

It is important to acknowledge that Kumar Sangakkara has performed admirably for the Rajasthan Royals, guiding them to the 2022 championship game and the 2024 postseason.

The coaching staff of the Indian men’s senior side will change following the conclusion of the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2024. After the World Cup, current head coach Rahul Dravid will step down, and the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is searching for a replacement.

Prospects such as Gautam Gambhir, Stephen Fleming, and numerous others are said to have been explored; also, former Sri Lankan cricket player and current head coach of the Rajasthan Royals, Kumar Sangakkara, is said to be a contender.

The former cricket player has, however, declared his intention to withdraw from the contest, stating that he is unable to devote his time to a full-time international task.

“I haven’t received any approaches, and I can’t dedicate my time to a full-time coaching position in India.” I’m content with my time with the Royals; we’ll see how it develops.” Sangakkara stated during the IPL 2024 qualifier 2 press conference.
