Kuldeep Yadav was benched for the entirety of India’s 2024 T20 World Cup group stage campaign, despite being the most reliable and wicket-taking spinner in the country since the start of 2023. But this wasn’t his fault; instead, the management made a wise choice in light of the difficult pitch conditions that favoured pacers.
But when he was named in the starting lineup for the Super Eights, his abilities were apparent. He immediately made his presence known, capturing five wickets in two games at a cost of just 51 runs in eight overs to solidify his position.
Ahead of India’s eagerly awaited match against Australia, Kuldeep Yadav shared his bowling philosophy with spinners across the globe.
He underlined how crucial length is in Twenty20 Internationals, a format that usually benefits hitters. Kuldeep proposed that spin bowlers should take a proactive approach by studying their opponents’ plans, similar to the aggressive tactics used by batsmen. He emphasised that this strategy had helped him in the most recent IPL season and would continue to improve his performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Any spinner in the world knows that length is very important. You must read what the hitter is attempting to do, be more aggressive, and approach the ball with extreme aggression, especially in this format. According to Sportstar, Kuldeep Yadav stated on Saturday, “So, that actually helped me during the IPL and it’s actually helping me in the T20 World Cup.”
Kuldeep Yadav had an incredible IPL 2024 season for the Delhi Capitals, taking 16 wickets at an economy rate of 8.65 in 11 games. This accomplishment is especially remarkable considering the circumstances that batters have loved and revelled in virtually every event this year.
Kuldeep Yadav also emphasised the importance of preserving length precision, which he says has been a major factor in his success. He emphasised that he doesn’t just want to take wickets; he also wants to deliver the ball at the ideal length.

“You have the best chance of getting the batter out when they try to attack you if you are bowling longer and have a strong plan against them. That’s what I’m thinking, Kuldeep continued, “not that I have to get him out, just the length.”
