Shane Warne was observed conversing with left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav on multiple occasions in the past, indicating that the pair shared a very close relationship. As a result, the Indian spinner revealed the details of his relationship with the late great Australian spin wizard after learning of Warne’s untimely death.
Kuldeep Yadav stated that he felt as though he had lost a close friend when he learned of Warne’s death in March 2022. The spinner also stated that he spoke with Warne 10 days prior to his departure and that he shed tears upon hearing the news.
“I was stunned to learn of his passing. I literally wept. I didn’t comprehend. It felt as though a loved one had passed away. I was in constant contact with him. “I spoke with him 10 days before he passed away,” Kuldeep said in the second episode of the most recent season of the YouTube program Breakfast with Champions.
Notably, prior to Kuldeep’s first Test in Sydney in 2019, Warne met with him daily before the first session and encouraged him to perform well. Eventually, the Kanpur-born cricketer achieved a remarkable five-for and dedicated it to Warne, who was moved to tears by Kuldeep’s kind gesture.
Kuldeep Yadav also disclosed the impact Warne had on his development as a cricketer.
The spinner also mentioned that Warne always motivated him and encouraged him to remain content on the field, which was ultimately all that mattered to him.
“I used to feel delighted that I had seen Shane Warne on television. I subsequently became his companion. I was able to learn from him simultaneously. And I intend to follow in his footsteps. During the Australia tour, he was a tremendous assistant. I was somewhat anxious prior to the match. I previously met him in the morning. He approached me and said, “I do not know what you will bowl, but I want you to be happy on the ground.” I shall observe you from the pavilion. It makes no difference how you bowl. Simply do so with a smile.
Thus, I recalled this. I was also performing the same actions on the ground. I felt no urgency during that match. In addition, I dedicated my five wickets to him. His eyes were moist with weeping. He was unable to believe it. Therefore, he has greatly impacted my existence,” Kuldeep continued.
