Prior to the 2017 IPL, the Mumbai Indians paid INR 2 crore to acquire all-around player Krishnappa Gowtham. Before the 2018 mega-auction, in which he was signed by the Rajasthan Royals, he was released without being given the chance. His unbroken cameo of 33 runs off of 11 balls helped his club defeat the Mumbai Indians by three wickets at the Wankhede Stadium. He featured in 15 matches in the 2018 edition and took 11 wickets at an economy of 7.80.
Gowtham was a valuable member of any squad since he could bowl four overs and could bat aggressively down in the order. He only appeared in seven games with the Royals in 2019 and was cut before the following season, though, as a result of his inconsistent play. He played just two games for Punjab Kings in 2020 before being released once more.
It’s interesting to note that in 2021, the Chennai Super Kings paid a staggering INR 9.25 crore to acquire Krishnappa Gowtham, breaking even.
In the tournament’s history, it was the most any franchise had ever spent on an uncapped player. As he had to in Mumbai, Gowtham spent the entire season warming the bench, despite being one of the team’s important players.
He does think, though, that the Mumbai dressing room is marginally inferior to the one in Chennai. The Bengaluru native pointed out that although both teams are competent, CSK is superior due to one particular aspect.
He stated that the Chennai franchise not only cares after its players but also makes sure that their family is pleased, keeping everyone in a decent space and stable frame of mind, whilst the Mumbai franchise does all possible to take care of a player.
“I consider Mumbai’s setup to be really professional. Everything in Mumbai is really well-organised. In addition to being organised and professional, Chennaians are as well,” Gowtham stated in an exclusive statement.
“They offer every flavour that Mumbai has to offer, but the thing I adore most about CSK is that they will look out for your comfort while also making sure the rest of your family is comfortable.

They think that you will perform at your best if the people in your family are content and comfortable around you. They see to it that everyone is at ease and in a positive state of mind,” he continued.
