The absence of prominent Indian cricket players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah from the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024 has recently been discussed by Sanjay Manjrekar.
Manjrekar used social media to draw attention to the fact that India has participated in 249 international games over the previous five years. But in only 59%, 61%, and 34% of those games, respectively, have Rohit, Kohli, and Bumrah been involved in action. In order to gain crucial match experience, he contended that these guys, who have had more sleep than their peers, ought to have been chosen for the domestic red-ball competition.
“In the previous five years, India has participated in 249 international games. Just 59% of them have been performed by Rohit. 61% of Virat and 34% of Bumrah. They appear to me to be rested Indian players. Possibly worthy of being chosen for the Duleep trophy, Manjrekar tweeted.
India has played 249 international matches in the last 5 years. Rohit has played only 59% of those. Virat 61 % & Bumrah 34%. I see them as well rested India players. Could have been selected for the Duleep trophy.

Re-entering the Duleep Trophy in a new format
From September 5 to September 22, there will be the 61st Duleep Trophy. Unlike previous years when it was contested in a zonal style, four teams—A, B, C, and D—will compete in the tournament. The committee responsible for national selection has selected all four teams. Teams A, B, C, and D are captained, respectively, by Shubman Gill, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Shreyas Iyer.
During India’s 2-0 ODI series loss in Australia earlier this month, Kohli and Rohit were recently spotted in action. But since the T20 World Cup final in June, Bumrah hasn’t participated in any competitive cricket matches.
