India’s No. 1 player, KL Rahul, has had a rough few months. He didn’t make the most of his chance at the T20 World Cup in Australia. After two Test matches in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he was dropped from the playing XI and lost his position as a leader in all three formats. On May 1, he got a terrible injury that kept him out of the IPL 2023 and the World Test Championship final against Australia.
Notably, KL Rahul has been getting a lot of criticism lately because he doesn’t get enough runs and has a low strike rate.
Many Indian fans have even asked the team to drop him because of this. Venkatesh Prasad, who played for India in the Olympics, has also been very critical of the 30-year-old. KL Rahul said that the abuse and teasing he got hurt both his mental health and the mental health of everyone who goes through it.
“That is something that sometimes bothers me and a lot of the other boys, too: when we players really need support, people feel like they can say or comment on whatever they want. Just look at what that person has to deal with. No one wants to do a bad job. We live like this. We only do this. “Like I said, I only know cricket,” KL Rahul said in a show called The Ranveer Show.
“There’s nothing else I do. Why would anyone think that I don’t take my game seriously or don’t work hard enough? And sadly, there is no link between the two in sports. “Like I said, you can work hard. I worked hard, but the results didn’t go my way,” he said.
Notably, it is not clear when the cricket player will go back to playing professionally. But the ODI World Cup is coming up soon, so Rahul should be on the field soon. A tentative date hasn’t been set, though.
