Talks are underway between Kumar Sangakkara and the reigning champion KKR over the mentor position. Gautam Gambhir was named a mentor in 2024, and the squad went on to win the prized Cup. The former cricket player was then given the position of head coach of India, which he accepted, creating a vacancy in the KKR squad once more.
Sangakkara, meanwhile, has been connected to the Rajasthan Royals since 2021. Under his direction, the team participated in the 2022 Indian Premier League final and placed third in 2024, demonstrating his excellent work. However, there are rumors that former India coach Rahul Dravid is in negotiations with the team, which could result in Sangakkara’s departure. Kumar Sangakkara has apparently made the decision to split ways with the team in light of this.
The southpaw is reportedly in advanced talks with KKR, but he is also receiving offers from other teams, according to The Telegraph. It is anticipated that the former Sri Lankan international would make a choice within the next few days after weighing his alternatives.
In addition to Bharat Arun as the bowling coach and Chandrakanth Pandit as the head coach, KKR still has to fill a few more posts.
