During SA 20 2024, renowned West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard will represent MI Cape Town, while Nicholas Pooran will skipper MI Emirates in ILT20 2024, the Mumbai Indians announced on Sunday, January 7.
As the Afghan wrist spinner continues to heal from an injury, Kieron Pollard will take Rashid Khan’s spot as captain for the second season of SA20.
Notably, in Major League Cricket’s debut season, Pooran scored an incredible 137* (55) in the championship game against the Seattle Orcas to lead MI New York to victory. With 388 runs from eight innings at an average of 64.66 and a strike rate of 167.24, the 28-year-old was also the tournament’s top run scorer.

When MI Emirates lost to Gujarat Giants by four wickets in Qualifier 2, they lost by one wicket in the first edition of the ILT20, and he would be expected to repeat that performance there as well.
With 355 runs from ten innings at an average of 50.71 and a strike rate of 142.57 with two fifties, the southpaw had an outstanding first season and finished as the fifth-highest run scorer of the year.
Conversely, MI Cape Town had a dismal debut SA20 season, finishing last in the standings with just three victories from 10 games. Notably, Rashid Khan commanded the team during the first season, and Kieron Pollard was left out of the starting lineup.

In addition to taking 69 wickets, the 36-year-old has amassed 3412 runs for MI. After a forgettable debut season, the hitter from Trinidad is anticipated to lead the team in the next edition. On Thursday, January 11, at Kingsmead Durban, MI, Cape Town will open the season against the Durban Super Giants.
