Despite the fact that Kieron Pollard has no plans to retire from playing any time soon, he has decided to stop his career in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Kieron Pollard, one of the finest overseas stars to grace the Indian Premier League (IPL), made the difficult decision on Tuesday to hang up his cleats and retire from the Twenty20 league. This decision came on the same day that franchises were to release their list of players who were released and retained.
After an unremarkable 2022 season, the organisation had every intention of putting Pollard back into the player pool. However, Pollard took matters into his own hands and made the decision not to participate in the league at all. Pollard provided an explanation for his decision to leave the T20 league in a statement that was made public.
Pollard, who continues to play cricket even outside of the international circuit, has no intention of calling it quits anytime in the near future with regard to his playing career.
The former West Indian all-rounder issued a statement in which he claimed that he made the decision to withdraw from the Indian Premier League (IPL) because he does not want to compete against the Mumbai Indians.
“It hasn’t been the easiest decision to make because I plan to continue playing for a few more years, but I understand that this incredible franchise that has accomplished so much needs to transition, and if I’m not going to play for MI anymore, then I can’t see myself playing against MI either. If that’s the case, then this decision has been made for me.
When a member of the MI, forever a MI. Over the course of the previous 13 seasons, I have had the privilege of playing for the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) squad that is considered to be the most successful overall “he stated while providing an explanation for the choice.
“I want to convey my profound gratitude to Mukesh, Nita, and Akash Ambani for the immense love, support, and respect they have always shown me, as well as for the confidence they placed in me. I say this with the utmost sincerity.
I still vividly remember our very first meeting, when they greeted me with open arms and told me, “We are family.” Those were not merely empty words; rather, they were shown by each and every action that they took throughout the time that I spent with Mumbai Indians “he concluded.
After being recruited by the Mumbai Indians in 2010, Pollard has not played for any other franchise in the lucrative Indian Premier League. He has instead spent all of his glory years with the Mumbai-based team. In April of this year, he announced his retirement from his work in international affairs.
After accepting this position, he will begin working as a batting coach for the organisation beginning with the 2023 season.
