After the team lost the first Test of the current series against Bangladesh, former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen spoke out and expressed concerns about the state of Pakistani cricket.
Kevin Pietersen stated that he thought Pakistan would do better against Bangladesh based on his PSL experience.
It is noteworthy that this was the team’s fourth Test defeat after declaring in the first innings, against Bangladesh. Bangladesh won easily, taking full advantage of the flat conditions to score a victory of ten wickets.
“In Pakistan, what became of cricket? The PSL was a very high class league when I played there; the kids were amazing and the players had a strong work ethic. What is going on over there?” Pietersen sent a tweet.
What happened to cricket in Pakistan? When I played the PSL, the standard of that league was tremendous, the players had a very good work ethic and the youngsters on display were magic.

Interestingly, most of Kevin Pietersen’s colleagues from his three seasons in the PSL from 2016 to 2018 have either retired or are not selected because they are too old.

In addition, ex-player Ramiz Raja of Pakistan stepped forth and summarised the problems facing Pakistani cricket. He said the team’s inability to handle pressure was the reason behind their defeats.
The Pakistani squad has a reputation for being able to steal a victory from its opponents. There have been previous instances where Pakistan has struggled on the fifth day of a Test match. In a video posted on his YouTube account, Raza stated, “They bowl poorly sometimes and batting is a disaster show other times.

“Every time this team faces more pressure, the story gets strange. I consider it to be a major issue. As soon as you feel pressure, especially from the bowlers who are having a horrible run of bowling, your belief system explodes. The hitters are completely incapable of doing this; every little sideways movement turns the game into a farce,” Ramiz continued.
