As a member of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team, Karn Sharma shared a dressing room with former captain Virat Kohli. Karn got his Test debut under Kohli’s leadership during India’s tour of Australia in 2014–15, even though the former RCB captain is not currently in charge of the team. The 36-year-old, who participated in just one Test match, told a remarkable story about a series-opening Test match in Adelaide involving Virat Kohli.
The first game as captain of the famous Indian batter was also the first game of the series. With 98 overs remaining and a formidable Indian batting order, Australia declared their second innings at 290. Thanks to the combination of Kohli and Murali Vijay, India was in a strong position even though they had lost early wickets.
Participating in the locker room, Karn disclosed the former India captain’s desire to seek for victory over a draw and praised his strategy.
“We had a target of nearly 300 runs to win that game, but Virat refused to give up. That is what we are going to pursue. That gave the players in the locker room a lot of encouragement. It was a distinct strategy. Various captains employ varying strategies. However, he gave the players in the locker room a great indicator that their captain has distinct ideas, according to Karn, who was speaking on Manjot Kalra’s YouTube channel.
“He always made it seem like everything was alright. The fact that Kohli had a poor Test series didn’t seem to faze him, he said, because of his mentality, preparations, and level of fitness.
Vijay and Kohli’s collaboration is fruitless.
Kohli and Vijay put up a 185-run partnership for the third wicket after India fell behind at 57 for 2. Before Kohli left the game having scored 141 runs, the next four wickets fell in a gap of 62 runs. Even though Vijay laid a solid framework for the chase, his 99 runs could not save India from losing by 48 runs.

Last night, I told the guys that we were going to pursue the target, whatever it was. I had faith in my abilities, and Lyon bowled the ball in the appropriate spots. The game would have been different if Vijay and I had added 40 runs there, Kohli remarked following the match.
