The ‘Bazball’ strategy, used by England to assault the opposition, has swept the cricketing world. People’s perceptions of Test cricket have shifted thanks to head coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes. Many people have praised the England side for their fearless play, and former India captain and famous player Kapil Dev has also joined the list of admirers.
In a recent interview, Kapil Dev lavished praise on Bazball and mentioned how much he liked how England played in the recently finished Ashes.
In addition, the ‘Haryana Hurricane’ pushed Indian captain Rohit Sharma to play a little more aggressively and urged teams to place more focus on winning games than on playing for draws.
“Bazball is great. One of the best recent series I saw was the one between England and Australia. I believe cricket should be played in that manner. Good job, Rohit. But he needs to act more forcefully. Consider the way modern teams like England play. And not just us. That is something that all nations who play cricket must consider. When asked whether India can adopt Bazball during an interview with Times of India, Kapil responded, “Winning the game should be the highest priority (not play for draws).”
Anything is possible if India can first place in the top four: In the 2019 ODI World Cup, Kapil India is one of the top favorites to win it all. India’s first World Cup champion, Kapil Dev, discussed the significance of making it to the semifinals and how things may start to work out from there.
“They must enter first in the top four (semi-finals). Anything is conceivable after that. From the semifinal level on, you require a lucky break and favorable circumstances. The top four, though, are what matter most, said the 64-year-old.
India’s next ODI assignment is the Asia Cup, which Pakistan and Sri Lanka will co-host. In order to prepare for the 10-team World Cup in October-November, Rohit Sharma and company will ideally make all the required adjustments.
