Recently, former India captain Kapil Dev spoke out to praise star batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for their priceless services to the Indian cricket team. Kapil Dev referred to the two hitters as enormous servants of Indian cricket and said they were irreplaceable.
Notably, after India just won the T20 World Cup, both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced their retirements from Twenty20 international cricket. The Men in Blue won everything after going undefeated throughout the competition and overcoming South Africa in the summit match.
Regarding their influence in Indian cricket, Kapil Dev likened Rohit and Kohli to world-class players Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni.
“In whatever format, nobody can replace Virat and Rohit in the Indian team. They departed with great happiness having served Indian cricket immensely. With the reputation that Virat has built for himself across all platforms, T20Is will undoubtedly miss him. Both share the same traits as MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar. Speaking on the fringes of the Trinity Golf Championship League’s second edition curtain-raiser event, Kapil Dev stated, “They are irreplaceable.”
I’m hoping they perform better than we have: Kapil Dev
Additionally, Kapil Dev came forward to wish the Indian team well, as the BCCI just declared that Gautam Gambhir, a former batter, will lead the team during their forthcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka.
“I wish Gautam Gambhir and the Indian cricket team the best of luck if he accepts the position of head coach. I’m hoping they do better than our past efforts. “I would like to send my best wishes to the Indian players,” stated Kapil Dev.
