Justin Langer, the head coach of the Lucknow Super Giants, sidestepped queries about whether he would be interested in taking over as the next men’s team head coach in India after rumours circulated that he might run for the job. Following LSG’s 18-run triumph over the Mumbai Indians, which terminated LSG’s IPL 2024 campaign, Langer underscored the importance of the position, pointing out the substantial cricketing obligations and the weight of expectations attached to it.
But he also said that winning ICC titles would be a fantastic opportunity, a terrific challenge, and a lot of fun. On the other hand, Langer was excited about the possible possibility, calling it a chance to chase the ultimate objective of winning ICC titles and an intriguing challenge.
Because of the team’s enormous fan base and rich history, the head coach position for Team India is among the most prominent in the cricket world. Being the manager of a team with this kind of history and international fan base is an enormous honour and duty.
Rahul Dravid‘s time as head coach will come to an end in 2024 after the Twenty20 World Cup. Following India’s shocking early withdrawal from the 2021 tournament, which shocked supporters and led to major changes, Dravid succeeded Ravi Shastri. His hiring was intended to improve the team’s output and fix the issues brought to light by the 2021 exodus.
“Being the head coach of the Indian cricket team would be almost the ultimate job in cricket. One, due to the enormous volume and high expectations associated with cricket. That would provide a formidable task. “Winning ICC titles would be a fantastic opportunity and a lot of fun,” Langer said following LSG’s season-ending match against MI on Friday, May 17.
Though not mentioned directly, Langer’s remarks suggested that he was not interested in being considered for the post and that he was not eager to be in the running for it.
“I’m sure the next person who gets the job will be really looking forward to the project,” said Justin Langer.
The Indian squad is under tremendous pressure to win: Justin Langer
Justin Langer, who coached Australia from 2018 to 2022, emphasised the importance of timing while also recognising the demanding nature of the position and the need for thoughtful consideration and calculated judgement. He confidently asserted that former Indian national coaches Shastri and Dravid would likely agree and support his position. Furthermore, he emphasised that there was a great deal of pressure and a need to produce results for everyone connected to the Indian cricket team.

“Yet, timing is crucial for all of these things. I played for the Australian cricket team for almost four years. It encompasses everything. It wears you out. It is likely that you will hear the same message from both Rahul Dravid and Ravi Shastri. The Indian squad is under a great deal of pressure to win,” Langer said.
