After suffering a calf injury that forced him to withdraw from The Hundred Men’s Competition 2024, England’s white-ball captain, Lancashire, is now preparing to make a comeback to professional cricket by participating in the Vitality T20 Blast quarterfinals.
Jos Buttler has a pending fitness test; with clearance, he will be eligible to play in the crucial match between Lancashire and Tymal Mills’ Sussex in the quarterfinal on September 4 at the Hove.
The news that the top wicketkeeper-batter is back is encouraging, but much will depend on the outcome of his fitness test, which is expected to be announced on Monday, the day before the match.
The English stumper is scheduled to undertake a fitness clearance test on Monday, according to the county team’s head coach Dale Benkenstein. He will only be allowed to play if the national physiotherapists and other relevant parties give him the all clear.
“That appears to be really promising. By the quarterfinals, everyone ought to be healthy. Jos has been going to rehab a lot. He’s eager to play, based on our communication. cited Benkenstein as saying, “We are happy to leave it down to the last day.”
On Monday, shortly before the match, he will take a fitness test. If all goes well and the England physios give him the all-clear, he will play. We really hope that he will play if he is well and ready to go,” he continued.
Buttler’s arrival would mean that the Lancs will have a star-studded international lineup when they play. Aside from Liam Livingstone, Saqib Mahmood, and Philip Salt, other players projected to be included are Irishman George Dockrell and Chris Green, who will be occupied providing his services to the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
