Despite their 3-2 loss in the recently finished Twenty20 International series against the West Indies, England captain Jos Buttler is pleased with his team’s performance. The Three Lions’ poor performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, along with a five-match T20I series loss and a 2-1 ODI series loss against the West Indies, raised numerous concerns about Jos Buttler leadership.

Jos Buttler emphasized that despite all the worries, the team management is not too concerned, despite some ups and downs. Buttler stated that he was pleased with the progress made by some of the players. He went on to say that they learned a lot about the playing conditions for the T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in the West Indies and the United States in June; thus, the tour was successful for them.

Of course, a few players have taken the stage and excelled. You want to win, and I believe we all wanted to win the series. The Ashes and the ODI World Cup have been missed by the 28-year-old because of a strained fracture that occurred during the 2023 Indian Premier League. With regard to Archer, the ECB has chosen to proceed cautiously. When asked about Archer’s comeback to the training ground, Buttler said that while it was encouraging to watch him bowl well, the pacer needs to take his time returning to the team.

Jof and I haven’t spoken. Of course, I had seen him in Barbados, so it was nice to see him back in our training group and bowling effectively. I’m sure the medical professionals and squad have a solid strategy for Jof, and I think I can speak for all cricket fans—not just those in England, but everywhere—when I say that we want him back for good. Thus, Buttler stated, “I believe it’s crucial that he take his time.”
